Former Wizards of the Coast VP thinks he knows why OGL 1.1 is coming

Former VP in charge of Dungeons & Dragons at Wizards of the Coast was asked why he thinks Wizard’s are doing what they are doing with the OGL 1.1.In a livestream, Ryan Dancey, one of the architects of the original…

Star Frontiers: New Genesis is Racist

There’s no damn beating about the bush on this one folx, SF: New Genesis by NuTSR, TSR3, or whatever you want to call them. The leaked playtest spits on the original, and I imagine that game if buried, would be spinning so fast in its grave as to dig a hole right through to the other side of the planet. To break it down, it’s reprehensible to use a word that I picked up from a Brit I know.

Botany Comes to D&D 5e

Have you ever felt that your D&D games were lacking in fantastical plants, herbs, poisons, or even monsters? Well so did the team at Sarsen Games! They have brought the now fully funded “The Herbal Journal of Cicely Longbottom” to…

Second Steps: Elden Ring

The Lands Between are an unforgiving place in Elden Ring, with much of the lore wrapped up in various quests, side-quests, and locations which require dedication to get to. It’s a beautiful game, starkly so at times, and delivers some of the most rewarding exploration I’ve experienced in an open world game to date. It really isn’t going to be for everyone, and for as many people as I’ve seen laud the game as one of FromSoft’s best since Sekiro, there are dozens who bounce off it harder than heavy attack from a greatshield.

Trans Rights Texas TTRPG bundle

Enter Rue and a host of 300 creators with a bundle to support trans folx, and to provide much-needed support to help keep trans folx heads above water in Texas. This bundle for $5 brings together 300 creators and their TTRPGs – a collection of games which alone are valued at $2,816 so that’s a month’s worth of %99 savings right’s there. Yep, this bundle is at the moment, only up for a month and ends in 1 month 0 days and 23 hours according to the tracker.

Kobayashi Fléaux!

I was scouring the net since I can’t sleep, and I keep nocturnal hours. Something caught my eye on Kickstarter, something that is spelled Fléaux! but pronounced Flay-O. With the tagline ‘Tonight we bleed but tomorrow we’ll be rich!” – It’s down to about 3 hours on Kickstarter and we love (especially me) to call on Kickstarters that have done well beyond their original goal, but also to show Kickstarter RPGs that catch our eye. Kobayashi’s Flay-O did just that!

Magicians Menagerie hits Kickstarter

We love Kickstarters here at Exiled News, in fact, we adore any third party funded projects in RPG a lot. Me, I am a big fan of magic, hence my latest build on Elden Ring playing with sorcery! Talking of magic though, this is a new project that could do with your help and a boost. There’s 14 days to go and the creators are looking for £4,287 to bring it to life. They have just raised (so far) £1,611 of the goal and really could do with a boost to that amount.

First Steps: Elden Ring

From Software are known these days for Dark Souls, or the *Souls-like genre of games which are marked by their tough encounters, difficulty, and tricky systems to master. You can learn them, but you won’t master them for a long time. People in my circle, fellow gamers and console nerds gave me some odd looks the other day when I dropped a pre-order for Elden Ring down.

Night City in Next-Gen

Until Tuesday Feb 15th 2022 – when CDPR smacked onto the net with their latest Night City Cyberpunk live stream, revealing not only 1.5 but Next Generation version gameplay as well. They capped this off with the words: download now, and offered a trial version of the game complete with progression saving so you don’t need to start again.

Spotlight: Jonny Hodgson Illustrator

You can’t go more than a few books in the RPG industry without finding some amazing art, it’s true, these days many of the books have production values that various companies can only aspire to. I remember being blown away by the art in Cubicle 7’s previous edition of The One Ring RPG and this turned my attention to the work of Jonny Hodgson.
